How to Make a Free Business Email Address

How to Make a Free Business Email Address (2 Easy Methods)

Do you need to create a free business email address? A professional email address is important when you’re trying to win new clients.

In this article, we’ll show you how to create a free business email address at your own domain. This will make your business look professional and trustworthy.

First, let’s clear up a few questions about email addresses and domains.

What Is a Business Email Address?

A business email address is an email address that uses your own business domain name. So you’ll need to create the domain first, then create the mailbox to match.

For example, [email protected] is an email address linked to the domain

There are a few reasons why using your own domain is important:

WPForms is the best WordPress Form Builder plugin. Get it for free!
  • It looks more professional than a Gmail or Hotmail address
  • Business domain names are easy to remember
  • Having a branded email address builds trust
  • Each email you send helps to promote your brand.

So when you create an email address, try to make the domain part unique to your business and easy to spell. Read these tips on how to choose a domain name if you need ideas.

One last tip. When you register your domain for your email, you’ll also need to choose a domain name extension. We recommend that you choose .com. This article on choosing a domain extension explains why.

You’ll need to create a domain name and a hosting account to create your own email address. Let’s move on and find out how to do that.

Are Business Emails Free (Honestly)?

Just to clarify – It’s not possible to get a free business email address with a website domain on the end of it like [email protected] You could get a free email that ends in, or, but that could look pretty unprofessional.

You’ll need to pay for website hosting to get that free email address that ends in your own domain, and many hosts like Bluehost offer a free business email address with their hosting plan.

Because these plans offer so much with them, including the free email address, they are ‘nearly free’ solutions to get you a business email address.

How to Create a Free Business Email Address

We’ve already done all of the research for you, and we’ve got 2 different methods you can use to create your own domain and email address.

    1. Hi Kaysee! This article is intended to provide instructions for getting an email address for your business’s domain, as opposed to using a non custom domain (such as gmail or hotmail). Your feedback regarding the wording is understood and very much appreciated, and we’ll be updating this article for better clarity 🙂

    1. Hi Niyi! Glad to hear that you enjoyed our article! Generally the email account would be attached to your hosting plan, so it would indeed stop when your hosting expires. However, this can vary from platform to platform, and also on what you’ve set up as well. It is possible to attain Email plans separately from hosting plans.

I hope this helps to clarify 🙂

      1. Please, how possible to attain business email plans that will not expire for years without going for hosting plans

      2. Hi Victor, you can get email services entirely on its own, separate from hosting plans. Services such as Office 365 or Google Suite or many others are available and are separate from hosting plans. However if you’re looking into free business email services without hosting, I apologize we daren’t aware of any such offerings.

If you have any further questions regarding WPForms though, please contact us if you have an active subscription. If you do not, don’t hesitate to drop us some questions in our support forums.

      1. Hi There!

You can follow the steps provided in this article to set up a business email account. Could you please give it a try and let me know the confusion you are facing here?

        Thanks! 🙂

    1. Hey Mandela- Good question! To begin with, I’d recommend you to purchase the domain and hosting of your choice as shown in this article. If you already have that setup, all you need to do is “Create” individual mail account as shown in step 4.

I hope this helps! Thanks 🙂

  2. The use of the word free is very misleading, no option presented here was free.

It’s mentioned in a comment response in February this was going to be amended, but it hasn’t been.

    1. Hey Jimmy- Sorry about the confusion you are facing here! The blog has been updated and it now says that the hosting needs to be paid to get that free email address that ends in your own domain. Please refer to the “Are Business Emails Free (Honestly)?” section in this same blog.

Hope this helps! Thanks, and have a good one 🙂

  3. For Bluehost hosting plans, after choosing a plan for 1 year, a free domain, do I need to host a domain separately after the expiration. If yes, what are the requirements

    1. Hi Victor, I apologize but I’m not sure I fully understood you. Is this in reference to your previous response where you’re looking to be able to have an email service continuing after your hosting service has ended? If so, I apologize all services with hosting providers are usually bundled with the hosting plan that you’ve signed up for. If the main plan is expired, then all services attached to it would no longer be available as well. You may wish to inquire with Bluehost (or any other provider) whether they provide only email services.

I’m sorry for not being able to provide you with a complete solution, but I do hope the information was helpful.

    1. Hi Zahid! Please read the article above for information that we have available regarding getting a business email for your site. If none of the details provided are applicable to you, I would recommend that you reach out to your hosting provider to inquire about setting up an email service to your domain, as most hosting plans do include some form of email service.

      I hope that helps 🙂

    1. Hi Praveen!

I would recommend that you reach out to Hostgator to inquire about their pricing directly, as they would be most familiar with the details of their pricing and plans.
